FDM is the archival and document-management layer used by Framesoft Contract Repository (FCR), Framesoft Legal Matter Management (FLM) and Framesoft Fee Management (FFM). Versioning, retention, privilege flags, legal hold and the Online Data Room keep evidence connected to the business record. Documents stay attached to meaning
Legal and regulatory duties, including regimes such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and Basel II, and ordinary business need, require safe storage, archival and exchange of email, correspondence, plans, electronic documents and other content. A contract PDF that is not linked to the FCR record is just a file. FDM keeps documents in the same governed context as the workflow that produced or received them, and it is the archive used by FCR, FDG, FSP, FCG, FLM, FRM and FFM.
How content gets in and how it is found
Content is stored and retrieved through Chrome or Edge, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Adobe Reader and Acrobat, File Explorer, the Framesoft scanning solution with OCR, forwarded email, an automatic drive loader, the other Framesoft applications, and REST or SOAP web services. Scanning reads barcodes, and related documents can be filed automatically. A document can be checked out as a work version, and folders or documents can be dropped in with quick check-in. Search is full text, including fuzzy and AI-based search, or by keywords assigned from business rules. A tree of folders and e-files carries document-type profiles. Permissions, version history, subscriptions, a recent-items home screen, bookmarks, preview, reminders, expiry, GDPR-conform handling and document compare are part of the product. Teams can share, comment and edit together. Retention schedules keep documents for the required period. FDM runs on-premises or as SaaS, including from a mobile client, and FDI sits on top for ad-hoc analysis.
Online data room
The FDM Platform is the secure data room for exchanging confidential documents with internal and external parties: mergers and acquisitions, legal transactions, capital raising, due diligence, clinical trials and similar projects. Transfer uses TLS. Access can be limited to a single folder or document, and a working version can limit access to a working group. Emails and attachments can be dragged in from Outlook. Scanned documents can be stored as searchable PDF. The drop zone accepts folders, including their sub-structure. It is offered as SaaS on a monthly membership per named user, with profile setup included. The number of users can change, and the membership can end on a monthly basis. Browser access is standard; File Explorer, Microsoft 365, scanning and email forwarding are available when configured.
